Artist-in-Residence in Seto
The word, "Seto-mono", has historically been used in Japan
to designate the ceramics in any style.
The origin of this word is founded in the high regard
attributed to
the potters of Seto City. Based on their city's
incredibly rich and unique deposits of ceramic and glass materials,
the
contemporary artists of Seto City continue to build this rich
tradition.
The Residency Program at the Seto City is intended to share this tradition with
artists
throughout the world. This definitely brings new perspectives to
Seto City, where The 2005 World Exposition will be held.
Also, in the future, many artists who wish to exchange ideas and
share the stimulating experience of the program will get together
here. We hope that this program will make Seto City a place to
expand creative and artistic expression by promoting cultural
exchange.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to all the people who
have cooperated to create the residency program.
